Lee Hom’s Music-Man World Tour would be coming to Singapore on 1st November 2008! Tickets for the Taipei concert sold out within 2 hours, and I am sure the concert here would be a sell-out as well! Anyway, priority ticket sales for OCBC Credit Cardholders start on 19 August to 2nd September, after which it will be released to the public. It is on occasions like this that I am glad my parents have credit cards! The most expensive tickets would be $198, and the cheapest, at $28 (but very limited I guess)!

This is really a year of massive concerts. Following the massive number of artistes at Singfest’08, Kanye West will be in Singapore on 19 September 2008 as part of his “Glow in the Dark Tour”. This would be the first time Kanye West will be performing in Singapore. I can’t wait to attend his concert, but I’m not sure whether I would like to listen to rap music for 2 hours non-stop. Anyway, tickets will go on sale at sistic from Wednesday, 13 August at 9 a.m. Ticket prices range from $88 to $188, excluding the $3 sistic handling fee.

There seems to be quite a lot of concerts coming up, and this time round it is Lee Hom’s Music-Man concert tour. The first stop would be at the Taipei Arena on 19th and 20th September 2008! It has been 2 years since his last tour, title “Heroes of the Earth” or something like that. Hopefully a date in Singapore would be announced soon, and hopefully it won’t be during the exam period!!

Latest Updates: The 19th September concert is sold-out within 2 hours according to the ticketing agency.

Also, the 2nd stop on the world tour is Shanghai, on 18th October.

His latest album will be released on 12 September.

I am super excited for the 2nd leg of A*mei Zhang Hui Mei’s Star Tour! This time the Taiwanese Pop Diva will be travelling to North America and Japan, and also Singapore (again)!! Tickets are already on sale for these performances, including the Singapore show, which started at 9 this morning! And of course, I have gotten my tickets already! Hopefully the A34 side will be the side she faces more often this time round (she faced the A15 side more last year, and thankfully I was on that side!). Oh yes, the concert will be held on 4th October (Sat) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium!

Anyway, I hope the setlist will be slightly altered this time round to make the show even more exciting, and probably her alter-ego thing, Amit, will show up as well, like what happened at the 19th Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan just a few weeks ago. View her performance here: http://www.im.tv/vlog/personal/2366751/4557273

This time I will try to take less pictures so that I can enjoy the concert even more, and also will bring more cash to get some of the tour merchandise!!!

For the North America leg of her tour, she will be performing at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe/ Harveys Outdoor Arena on 19th July, and also River Rock Show Theatre on 22nd July. In Japan, she will be having shows in the ACT Theatre on 22nd and 23rd September!! I think the performances at these places will be spectacular!

Review: Good Girl Gone Bad Live July 9, 2008

Well, I had high hopes for this DVD, since it’s Rihanna’s first tour release on DVD.

On the songs, the show started with her first hit ever, Pon de Replay, which I think was apt since it was a song that introduced her to the world.  Next came a song Break It Of” which I don’t know because I only bought her latest album, which is Good Girl Gone Bad. Then after a few more songs came Rehab and Breakin’ Dishes, both songs that I really like from her album, and Rihanna delivered then very well.

She did a cover of Bob Marley’s song “Is This Love” which isn’t really what I like, but it was ok.  SOS was hot! The arrangement was given a different treatment, making it rather cabaret-ish, which was great! Next was Good Girl Gone Bad, one of my favourite songs from her album, and again, she did her thing. Hate That I Love You followed, and after that was Unfaithful. After Sell Me Candy, she worked the crowd again with songs like Don’t Stop the Music, Shut Up and Drive. Just before launching into Umbrella, her mega-hit, she sang Question Existing, which was very heartfelt. And Umbrella just brought the house down!

Overall I think the setlist was not bad, but there could be more done to the choreography. And I think black isn’t really a good colour on stage, so next time she might consider more fanciful stuff?  I can’t wait for her to tour Asia. Not quite a Beyonce yet in terms of experience and skills, but I think she will be a great entertainer in the near future!

Maroon 5 Concert (Singapore) March 28, 2008

It is probably the first time I attended a “rock” concert, and my ears were deafened after the concert. Nevertheless I was quite impressed with Maroon 5. I never had doubts about their musicality and Adam Levine cruised through every song as though it was effortless. My only complaint that the rock act performed for only about 1 hour, which, if one is the calculative sort, e.g. me, did not really justify the $125 ticket that was paid. This would probably be a norm in the States I guess, but in Asia, artistes usually have concerts that lasts at least 2 hours. Maybe they didn’t have enough songs to sing longer (I mean they only released 2 albums till date)? Also, the stage design was rather simple.

Anyway, I really like the song “Won’t Go Home Without You”, which I think was a crowd favourite as well. Since I am not really a Maroon 5 fan (was there to accompany my sister), it didn’t help that I did not know the lyrics to their songs, maybe except the choruses. Oh yes, another complaint: there wasn’t much interaction with the audience, and the songs kept on coming one after another.

But all in all, they showed why they really deserved their Grammy Awards through their performance.

P.S. Didn’t take any pictures at the concert…
